Aberdare care home worker braves the shave to raise £800 for garden project

A member of staff at HC-One’s Meadowlands care home in Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taf, has braved the shave to raise almost £800 for the home’s new garden project.

Meadowlands hosted a fundraising fun day, which invited friends and family of Residents to join in with the activities, including a raffle, food and refreshments.

Care home worker Sandra Price bravely endured a full head shave, which raked in the majority of the money raised as Residents and friends of the home donated to show their support.

The money will be used to refurbish the home’s garden, which is being transformed for Residents to enjoy during the summer months. The project will involve building a new summer house at Meadowlands and adapting the decking to enable wheelchair access, which will allow Residents to admire the raised flower beds.

Sandra Vernal, Home Manager at Meadowlands, said: “The whole team here at Meadowlands are extremely proud of Sandra for showing such courage and commitment to raising money for our new garden.

“The refurbished garden area will provide Residents with a new space to enjoy and make memories in with their loved ones.”

Located on Abernant Road, Meadowlands offers long term care packages for older members of the community needing nursing dementia care.
