Dave Bellis, Nick Taplin and Steve Lewis

Located in J-Shed in the SA1 area of the city, this new culinary destination occupies a prime position overlooking Swansea’s waterside and is set to become one of the city’s most exciting dining experiences.

Comprising 300 covers, the venue includes a newly configured bar and lounge, as well as an external drinking and dining area which wraps around the entire property. A private dining area is also be available with an exclusive external terrace.

Set against the backdrop of Pierre White’s unique monochromatic styling, the restaurant’s surroundings are matched by the menus which brings to life his philosophy of what he describes as ‘affordable glamour’.

The new restaurant also pays deference to the building’s industrial heritage with criss-crossed steel beams, exposed brick work and bare concreate ceilings, all adding to the overreaching ambiance.

Rhys Andrews, general manager said: “It’s great to be open and I’d like to thank everyone who has been involved to get the restaurant ready. Marco Pierre White is such an iconic British chef and his unique take on traditional dishes is superb and we know that the people of Swansea will want to come back again and again to try everything on the menu.

“It’s also remarkable to think that, despite the lockdown, we’ve been able to develop the site and open this amazing new venue. It’s given the city a much-needed boost in terms of a new dining experience as well as creating new jobs.

“The response from the people of Swansea has been phenomenal and it’s certainly going to be a busy time.”

With the menu having been curated by Marco himself, steak remains at its heart, while other dishes are based on his own childhood favourites.

Starters include Wheeler’s Crispy Calamari, Mr White’s Scotch Egg and a delicious Beetroot & Goat’s Cheese Salad. Alongside the steaks mains includes Roast Chicken À La Forestière, The Governor’s Steak & Ale Pie and Mr Lamb’s Shepherd’s Pie.

Those with any room left can then indulge in one of the sumptuous desserts which includes a 70% Dark Chocolate Mousse, Mr White’s Classic Cheesecake or Alex James’ Blue Monday or Vintage Mature Cheddar (of Blur fame).

The menu is complemented by an extensive and varied wine menu as well as a selection of stylish cocktails with something to suit everyone from classic martinis to more adventurous cocktails.

Rhys added: “There’s certainly demand out there and shows that customers are wanting to go out and eat and enjoy themselves. We have gone above and beyond in terms of putting in place the required measures and guests can visit us assured they can enjoy a drink and meal in a safe environment.”
