Owners of Bumblebees wool and haberdashery in Llandovery, Carmarthenshire, are buzzing as their shop has been announced as a runner up in the first ever Yarn Industry Awards presented by CraftWorld.

All yarn enthusiasts were encouraged to vote in the inaugural Yarn Industry Awards. It was an opportunity for customers to applaud the brands and products that truly captured their creative hearts. Award categories included Favourite Yarn Brand; Best Yarn Show; Best online retailer and regional independent retailers in Scotland, Wales and regions of England.

Bumblebees wool and haberdashery shop, based in the Market Square of Llandovery, was announced as the runner up of the independent retailer in Wales category. The winner of the category was the well-established, Abakhan, in north Wales.

Linzi Brown, owner of Bumblebees said, “Jason and I are absolutely thrilled to have achieved this accolade. We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who so kindly voted for us. We really do appreciate everyone’s support. We have not stopped smiling since we got told the news that we were this year’s runners up in these prestigious awards.”

Linzi and Jason Brown, who live in Llanwrda, created the wool and haberdashery business from scratch in 2021. Linzi is a life-long crafter with a passion for fabric and free machine embroidery. You may recognise the couple as they appeared on BBC Two’s Top of the Shop with Tom Kerridge a few years ago as they used to make their own peanut butter.

Bumblebees stocks everything from beautiful quality yarns to a variety of fabrics as well as buttons, ribbons and trims galore. If you fancy trying something new there’s plenty to spark your creativity. There are books to inspire, needle felting supplies and a range of make-your-own kits. They also stock a range of gifts for the creative. For more information visit: www.bumblebeesofllandovery.com
