Motorcyclist turns passion into new business

A keen motorcyclist has turned her love of Wales into a new business and is ready to open the throttle after lockdown.

Born and brought up in Yugoslavia, Maja Kenny has always loved travelling and after hitching and cycling across much of Western Europe she came to Britain and set up an office administration services business in Wales.

In 2016 Maja bought her first motorcycle, passed her test and used that Suzuki SV650 to extend her travelling and touring experiences.

Two years later she joined Blood Bikes Wales and was the first female ride in the Wrexham area and volunteers for unpaid duty helping the NHS deliver vital medical products all over the UK, sometimes in relays with other Blood Bikers.

Last year, having bought the bike of her dreams, a Ducati Supersport S, she rode back to Slovenia, around Europe and even managed to squeeze in a few weeks riding a Triumph Tiger around Tasmania.

As the Coronavirus curtailed her regular business, Maja used the time to plan further adventures including the motorcycle tours of Wales which will be ready to go when travel and accommodation restrictions are lifted.

Months in the saddle and the Welsh roads on her doorstep have really encouraged her to ride either alone or with friends and the experiences form the basis for the new touring programmes.

“I am very excited about the new venture and cannot wait to show others the wonderful roads we have in Wales,” she said.

It’s a very free and easy touring concept she has developed.

“Some dates are open to all and others are exclusive to women and some for those riders that lack in confidence. The groups will be kept small and the purpose of each trip will be different.

“Some are photography focused so we will ride to picturesque places and take time for everyone to take photos (not a photography course), some are visiting the popular places while some are exploring some of the lesser known B roads and single lane tracks.”
