5 Things To Note After Getting a Tummy Tuck

It happens to everyone. Well, most people!

As they get older, they may find it harder to shift tummy fat from around their abdomen. Or, if they have just had a baby and have lost some weight, they may be looking for a way to get rid of the ‘pooch’ that can occur.

Exercise can take you so far so, many people resort to having a tummy tuck. This procedure aims to remove excess flesh from the abdomen and, in doing so, tighten and firm up the area.

After it has been performed, you should feel more comfortable in your body, but there are some things that you should note. Here, five of those things will be explored so you will know what to expect!

  1. Healing Will Take a While

Irrespective of whether you went for a tummy tuck Turkey or went to a local clinic to have the procedure, it is going to take a while to heal.

Many people who have undertaken a tummy tuck are surprised that it can take up to a month to recover from this surgery. If you are travelling abroad to have it performed at a clinic like the ACIBADEM Beauty Center, you will need to schedule in a longer-stay in a nearby hotel, so that the staff at the centre will be able to monitor you. It is not considered safe to fly on a plane for two to four weeks post-procedure, so, be patient!

  1. Your Clothes Aren’t Going to Fit

It seems contradictory but, when it comes to tummy tucks, there is going to be some swelling. This can last for up to four months and, will inevitably mean that you clothes aren’t going to fit very well!

Indeed, it can take weeks for the swelling to go down, so it is advised that anyone who is looking to undertake a tummy tuck should invest in some looser clothes. Don’t even think about trying to squeeze into a pair of skinny jeans! It’s not going to happen just yet!

  1. Don’t Measure Yourself

The internet is full of ‘before’ and ‘after’ pictures, which may have you convinced that your tummy tuck will work immediately. It won’t, and therefore, you should avoid cracking out the measuring tape or stepping on a set of scales. In fact, for the first few days after the surgery, you may weigh more due to the swelling and IV fluids that you were given during the process.

  1. No Heavy Meals Afterwards

Try to eat little and often after you have had a tummy tuck, at least for the first week. This will help you to keep your energy up, without causing bloating or soreness around your stomach. That’s the last thing you want!

  1. Stay Well Hydrated

Lastly, stay well hydrated. Avoid alcohol like the plague for at least two months post-procedure, and make sure you are consuming as much water as possible. This will help to speed up healing, will help to keep your mental state in a good place, and will also help you to reduce any swelling that will occur after the tuck.
