Sight loss charity gets set to spook with online Halloween events for kids

As Wales returns to lockdown once again, many young people and their families will no doubt be disappointed that this year’s Halloween parties are off the cards.

But although we can’t meet face to face, there are plenty of ways to have fun indoors during the spooky season.

Sight loss charity RNIB is hosting three frighteningly fun online events for children and young people with a visual impairment as part of their Shape and Share programme.

Join in with the Halloween Family Spooktacular Trick or Treat quiz on Thursday 29th October for an hour of thrilling, chilling questions. The quiz is suitable for all ages but beware, some questions could be ‘tricky’.

Those looking for a few more frights should tune in to Spooky Sensory Storytime on Friday 30th October, read by a very special surprise guest.

On the big day itself, kids and adults alike can get creative in the Frighteningly Fang-tastic face painting session. And it wouldn’t be Halloween without some creepy and crawly animals! If you’re brave enough, join the interactive Creepy Creatures session as Allan from Wee Critters shows off some of his slimy, smelly and hairy friends from the animal world.

RNIB’s Shape and Share events bring families affected by sight loss together for support, fun activities and to share advice and tips. Each event offers:

    • A chance to meet other families
    • Activities, games or crafts for younger children
    • Engagement opportunities for young people
    • Support, information and discussion for families on a range of topics relating to everyday life at home, education, transitions, social life and leisure, mobility and independence.
    • Opportunities to have your say, shape and get involved in local and national campaigns.
    • Information about wider services from RNIB and partner organisations.

All children and young people with a visual impairment aged 0-25, their siblings, parents and family members are welcome to attend.

Book a place on any of the events below by filling out the online booking form or contact [email protected].
