Machynys Golf Club Ladies Section have aced their fundraising yet again this year by raising over £4,000 for the Urology Department and Breast Care Unit at Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli.

The fundraising took place during the Club’s open week in August 2021 which included a daily raffle and an auction. Cheques for £2,000 were presented to both Consultant Urologist Mr Ng from the Urology Department and to Mr Holt, Trustee of the Prince Philip Hospital Breast Care Unit Fund.

Rhiannon Roberts, Ladies’ Captain at Machynys Golf Club, said: “It was lovely to meet Mr Ng and Mr Holt and present the cheques on behalf of the Machynys Golf Club members.

“During our open week in August (as in 2020) we were able to tap into the generosity of our visitors and run a daily raffle along with an auction of four balls to some of the country’s best golf courses.

“We raised just over £4,000 last year and a further £4,500 this year and were thrilled to be able to present both the Urology Department and the Breast Care Unit with donations of £2,000 each in 2020 and again in 2021.

“We felt that it was important to support causes that work within our community, and both departments do amazing work.”

Consultant Urologist Mr Ng said: “We are extremely grateful to Machynys Ladies Section for their continued support and wonderful donations. Charitable donations allow us to purchase items over and above what the NHS can provide for the benefit of Hywel Dda University Health Board patients.”
