Following a period of strong growth, leading specialist recruiter Acorn has made a key appointment to help continue the development of its specialist recruitment divisions such as legal, accounting and finance, HR, life sciences and executive search.

Based at Acorn’s head office in Newport, South Wales, Mohammed Alamgir Ahmed has a longstanding reputation in the recruitment profession. As well as leading a number of established recruitment teams within the business, Mohammed will also be working on the new specialist areas that Acorn is currently developing across the UK.

Speaking about his new role, Mohammed said: “Acorn is one of the UK’s leading recruitment agencies, and has a reputable offering in the executive search, legal, accountancy and finance divisions. The challenge for me is to build this further so more and more employers are aware of the specialist support we can provide for their permanent recruitment, whilst also helping to develop new specialist areas that the business is currently working on – I can’t wait to get stuck in.”

Senior Operations Director, Karen Sharpin added: “Acorn’s specialist offering for the recruitment of skilled professionals into permanent roles continues to develop, and Mo’s experience and energy makes him a fantastic addition to each of these teams. Building on Acorn’s excellent reputation, we will continue to demonstrate to employers and to those looking to develop their career that our services, connections and experience are second-to-none.

“We’re encouraged by the success and progress we’ve made to date – not just in terms of the number of specialist placements we make, but in particular with the quality of the feedback and repeat business we’re continuing to attract from employers.”

Established in 1992, Acorn has 38 branches and on-site locations across the UK and recently won Recruiter of the Year, and Permanent Recruiter of the Year at the national IRP recruitment awards. The business provides leading permanent, contract and temporary recruitment support within a number of specialist areas including Accountancy & Finance, IT & Digital, Commercial, Executive Search, Legal, Construction & M&E, Nuclear, Oil & Gas, Technical & Engineering, Nursing & Healthcare and Driving & Logistics.
