Colleagues from Co-op Funeralcare in Cardiff are reflecting on a decade of fundraising for the Sully-based children’s hospice, Ty Hafan, as they look to the next ten years of raising money for the much-loved paediatric palliative care charity.

Activity over the last ten years, which has raised an impressive £26,000, has been spearheaded by funeral service operative Andrew Evans, of James Summers Funeralcare in Roath Court, whose young son Oscar passed away at Ty Hafan in 2012 having spent time in the children’s palliative care centre.

Andrew’s colleagues have tirelessly supported his quest to raise money for the charity having undertaken a host of money-raising initiatives at the funeral home over the years. They have a wide range of fundraising events planned for 2022, including a Platinum Jubilee raffle and a summer car wash.

Andrew, said: “Ty Hafan is a cause that’s extremely close to my heart and my family and I have experienced first-hand the care that its teams provide. With the support of my colleagues here at James Summer’s Funeralcare, we’ve been working hard over the past ten years to raise a steady stream of funds to support Ty Hafan’s work. It’s a great milestone to reach and we have some really exciting future events planned as we continue in our fundraising mission so that more local people can benefit from the essential services that Ty Hafan offers.”

Edward Murray, Care Logistics Lead at the James Summers Co-op Funeralcare said: “The whole team is passionate about raising essential funds for Ty Hafan as we see first-hand from the families in our care, the incredibly important work that it does. Andrew works incredibly hard to ensure that there is a strong  of activities planned and we’re very excited to be supporting him as we look to another ten years of support for this wonderful local charity that is such a focal point for our community.”
