7 Ways Successful Entrepreneurs Spend Their Time at the weekend

    Making Time

Rarely, if ever, do you hear a successful entrepreneur say, “Isn’t it great that it’s Friday?” The life of a busy entrepreneur never sleeps, and every day is Hump Day.

It is easy to get into the belief system that you have to work 24/7. This lifestyle isn’t sustainable and can later cause burnout. This, in turn, won’t help you or the business you are trying to succeed in.

So, that leaves the question. How can entrepreneurs switch their minds off at the weekend? They can read a book, play poker online, and spend time with friends. There are many pastimes, but they must be employed wisely in order to rest your mind and have it amplified for creativity for the new week.

That is how you’ll end up ahead, even if you don’t work all weekend.

    The Top 7 Things

    1. Sleep

The Sleep Revolution by Arianna Huffington delves into the importance of sleep as a function for professionals. In it, she goes as far as describing sleep deprivation as the new smoking. (It is as bad!) Sleep deprivation is a common theme amongst entrepreneurs.

If you are trying to build a business, a lack of sleep will further cost you in the long-run. The main reason is that your brain can’t function with too little sleep. You won’t work with the same passion or purpose, so make sure to rest in order to achieve the best results later.

    2. Spending time with family and friends

Spend time with those who don’t require you to be as intellectually engaged as you are during the week. Connecting with loved ones on an emotional level requires you to access a different part of your brain. It is important to socialise and surround yourself with love to keep up to speed with your creative process.

    3. Read a Book

It is best to read something that has no connection to your business. Pick up a novel you have always neglected but wanted to know what happens, listen to an audiobook or a fun podcast, or if you really have time, go to a live play!

    4. Move Your Body

As an entrepreneur, you need all the energy you can get. Powering and moving your body will help fuel your work-week journey. Physical activity is a key ingredient in creating more of an energy resource.

It doesn’t mean you need to be in the gym 24/7 at the weekend. You can take a walk, play a sport you like, or go to the swimming pool. All that matters is that you are physically active.

    5. Cook a nice meal

Just like exercise, food is fuel for the body and helps maintain your energy levels. Also, it is a nice way to get creative and switch off the mind. Follow recipe books and online tutorials and allow yourself to become immersed in preparing a tasty dish.

Also, if you are throwing a dinner party, it is a great way to socialise with family and friends and switch off from work-related stress. Less screen time, more talk time!

    6. Connect to Spiritual Self

This is one that should not be ignored. If you do not make enough time to get grounded and in tune, this can affect your decision-making. It is easy to get distracted by background noise, and as an entrepreneur, you can’t afford to let this happen.

Something to remember is that spirituality isn’t the same thing as religion. Whatever way you decide to look deeper within yourself and connect with the outside world can be defined as spirituality. Whether that is through meditation, guided breathing or whatever you like to do, it is something that is essential for your personal growth.

    7. Quiet Time

It is important just to sit and be quiet. If you want, why not do a YouTube guided meditation, or a breathing app. Whatever you do, your brain needs to unwind and make sure you process everything you’ve done throughout the past week. You will never be able to have your brightest ideas if your head is always buzzing.

We live in an overstimulated world; it is so easy to switch on. Sitting alone, whether in the comfort of your own home or in nature, will work wonders for the creative process.
