Front Runner Events, organisers of the Swansea Half Marathon are delighted to announce Maggie’s Swansea as their Charity of the Year for 2023, having worked together for the last six years.

Tash Smith, Event Manager at Front Runner Events said:

“We are absolutely thrilled to continue working with Maggie’s into 2023. The service Maggie’s offer patients, families and friends is second to none, our continued partnership will allow the Centre in Swansea to carry on providing a top-quality service for those who need it through the runners who will #RunSwansea in aide of Maggie’s Swansea.

“We have a great relationship with Maggie’s and we are looking forward to developing this even further over the next 12 months.”

As some will know, the late Maggie Keswick Jencks founded Maggie’s in 1995 and the Centre in Swansea was established in 2011, providing support for those who need it, whether emotionally, financially or in many other ways.

Lucia Osmond, Centre Fundraising Manager said:

“We are delighted to continue our partnership with Front Runner Events, as charity of the year for the 2023 Swansea Half Marathon. Over the years, through our runners participating at the race, we have received thousands of pounds of fundraising. With the event being local to the Centre, it offers a wonderful platform for fundraising, helping us to keep the doors at Maggie’s Swansea open to welcome visitors.”

In 2023 #TeamMaggies will have 100 spaces available for anyone wishing to run for their charity. Participants don’t need to be super athletes to take part as the race is suitable for all abilities from beginners through to experienced runners on its flat and friendly route. It’s a fully marshalled race on closed roads perfect for beginners, and first-time half marathon runners. The route takes runners through the city centre and along Swansea Bay to Mumbles, before returning along the promenade to the finish underneath the Copr Bridge.

Each runner will be supported by Maggie’s and organisers with race tips, training plans and charity place t-shirts.

The event will take place on Sunday 11th June 2023 at 9am adjacent to the Swansea Arena,
