Most students in the UK, or anywhere else, work on a limited budget as they focus on their studies. Finding room for some non-essentials like streaming is tough, but there are companies with excellent student discounts that make the service more affordable.

These deals are ideal for students and focus on streaming services in the UK. You’ll need a VPN to watch streaming services like Hulu outside the UK, but this list doesn’t include streaming services outside the UK because a VPN demands extra costs.

These are the best streaming services for students in the UK.

    Disney Plus

Disney+ is one of the newest entrants into the streaming services arena, but the platform has already made a name for itself with great content at great prices.

You’ll need a guide to watch Disney+ UK because it’s one of the most popular streaming services with hundreds of movie titles, TV shows, and documentaries.

However, the monthly subscription cost is worth it with Star Wars, Disney, Marvel, and National Geographic content.

Some of the best shows on Disney Plus UK include Agent Carter, Atlanta, 24, Gordon Ramsay’s Uncharted, etc.

Disney+ costs £7.99 per month, which is a great price point for students in the UK.

    Amazon Prime Video

Prime Video is slowly developing into one of the UK’s best and most pocket-friendly streaming services. The streaming service has excellent original shows like Reacher, The Boys, The Man in the High Castle, and Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan.

Students don’t need to purchase any special streaming devices as Prime Video supports smartphones, tablets, laptops, etc.

UK student streamers can get the service at a discounted price of £3.99 per month when they subscribe to the £39 per year plan.

    YouTube Premium for Students

YouTube Premium is one of the most affordable streaming services for students in the UK. The streaming service offers excellent discounted prices for students, allowing them to watch ad-free YouTube Videos and listen to YouTube Music for £6.99 instead of the regular £11.99, which is a £5 discount.

£5 might not seem like much for most but can make a significant difference for a student on a budget.

    BritBox

BritBox is a streaming service owned and operated by BBC and ITV and focuses on popular movies and shows in the UK.

This is not your streaming service if you prefer a collection of original content because it operates essentially as a catalogue. It has a collection of over 300 British comedies, dramas, and soap operas from channels such as ITV, BBC, ViacomCBS, and Channel 4.

BritBox is ideal for streaming on a budget, and you can get a plan for £5.99. However, you cannot download any content on BritBox for offline viewing, but the service supports smart TVs and other streaming devices.

    Netflix

Netflix is one of the world’s most widely used streaming services, even after losing a chunk of subscribers after its latest price hike. The streaming service made a name for itself for being pocket-friendly and ideal for students and still holds that position.

The streaming giant is known for producing a steady stream of original content, including TV shows, movies, and documentaries.

Netflix’s Basic subscription package in the UK costs £6.99 and offers standard video quality streaming. However, you’ll get 1080p on Netflix Standard for £10.99 and 4K and downloadable content on Netflix Premium for £15.99.

    Hayu

Hayu is a little-known streaming service that’s available in many countries worldwide. The streaming service is a favourite for lovers of US-based reality TV shows.

Its platform has over 6500 episodes from over 250 reality TV shows and allows same-day viewing as the United States.

Hayu costs just £4.99 when purchased from the official website, and you can get a £1 discount if you get the Hayu add-on for Prime Video or Now TV.

You can save up to 25% per year if you have a few quid to spare to pay the £43.99 annual subscription rate.

    Apple+

Apple+ is a must-have streaming service if you don’t want to pay over the odds but get access to quality original programming. The streaming service has tons of original content like Ted Lasso, Severance, Defending Jacob, Amazing Stories, etc.

The only downside is you won’t find movies from theatres or TV shows from other TV networks. However, Apple+ updates its content library with new and exciting films, series, and documentaries each month.

Apple+ is available for as low as £4.99 per month, which isn’t bad considering you get Dolby Atmos and HDR video on top.

    Wrapping Up

You may be familiar with all seven picks from this guide, but it’s important to research to find the streaming service that works for you. Consider your budget, streaming device, and entertainment tastes, and we’re sure you’ll make the best decision and stay within your budget.
