Residents of Neath Port Talbot who are looking to start a business or are running a small business and need support can join a new free virtual business school.

Neath Port Talbot Council’s Economic Development team in partnership with UK Steel Enterprise have teamed up with The Rebel School to bring small business support to the community, completely for FREE.

Using an alternative approach to getting started, Rebel will show you how to avoid loans & debt, needing cash to start and business plans all together. This programme will help you to launch a mini-experiment and make money doing something you really love by starting in profit. Starting a business is about having money, not owing money.

This incredible FREE course will give you the information, inspiration and practical help you need to get going and will be running ONLINE via Zoom from 5th – 16th September.
Through this course, you’ll learn all the fundamentals when starting & growing a business:

How to start for free, sales and marketing, finding customers, building a website for free, how to use social media for business, tax & accounting, motivation & confidence, networking, pricing, negotiation, pitching and presenting skills, SEO, live coaching and much, much more.

You’ll have the opportunity to learn from and have 1-2-1 sessions with Rebel facilitators who have actual real-life experience of running businesses in all industries such as digital marketing & web design, catering, coaching, event management, accounting, film and TV, art and more. Not only have the Rebel facilitators built and ran successful businesses, but they’ve also failed many times too. This course covers those mistakes, failures and learnings, enabling you to avoid them when getting your business off the ground.

UKSE Regional Manager Glyn Thomas said the organisation was working hard to help local entrepreneurs. “We are delighted to be helping to bring Rebel Business School’s courses to Neath Port Talbot.
“These online programmes are stimulating and lively and designed to instil confidence in would-be entrepreneurs, the people who, with encouragement and support, will launch new businesses and create jobs for future generations.  The area has, without doubt, a rich vein of talent to be tapped and we are committed to developing this in any way we can.”

Councillor Martyn Peters, Cabinet Member for Economic and Community Regeneration, said: “I would encourage anyone who is thinking of starting up a business or is currently running a small business and needs some help, to sign up to this excellent free programme.

“We are committed to supporting the development of both new and existing businesses in Neath Port Talbot to ensure they are given the best opportunity to prosper. “
