HM Queen Elizabeth II, longest-serving monarch of United Kingdom and the Commonwealth has died at the age of 96 (1926 – 2022) after reigning for 70 years.

Buckingham Palace has released the following statement:

“The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.

“The King and Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”

Clarence House have confirmed Britain’s new King will officially be known as King Charles III.
