The creators of some of Cardiff’s most successful foodie events are back with a big street-food festival in Sophia Gardens for the next few weeks, and entry is completely free, every weekend.

Starting on Friday 17th August and running until Sunday 9th September, the festival –  named ‘The Summer Feastival’ – will bring together award-winning street food traders and entertainment to deliver a month-long celebration of good food and good times.

The Summer Feastival will run every Friday evening, all day Saturday and until 8pm on Sunday, and each weekend will feature a changing line-up of different street food traders from across Wales and the South West.

Whilst the Friday and Saturday events will appeal to weekend merrymakers and keen foodies; the Sunday events will deliver a more family-friendly vibe, with a variety of entertainment on offer including face-painting and stilt walkers.

    Street food traders confirmed to take part so far include;

    • Brother Thai: British Street Food Awards winners 2017
    • Dirty Bird: Free-range, crispy fried chicken
    • Meat & Greek: Delicious souvlaki & Greek kebabs
    • Tukka Tuk: Indian street food from chef Anand George

In addition to the street food on offer, The DEPOT team will be running dedicated craft beer and cocktail bars, and a limited-edition ‘feastival cocktail menu’ that will change week on week.

    Feastival FAQs

    [accordions]
[accordion title=”Is it free to enter?” load=”show”]Yes! There will be no door charge. You can enter and leave as you please. If the site does reach maximum capacity, we will impose a one-in, one-out policy.[/accordion]
    [accordion title=”What are the opening times?” load=”hide”]Fri 5pm-11pm, Sat 10am-11pm, Sun 10am-8pm

We’ll be opening at 10am for some of our coffee and breakfast traders. We expect most of the hot food traders to be open around 11am-11.30am onwards.[/accordion]
[accordion title=”Are kids allowed?” load=”hide”]Of course! We are a family friendly event and there will be kids entertainment throughout the weekend. Sunday is our more family focused day so expect some additional kids entertainment.[/accordion]
[accordion title=”Are dogs allowed?” load=”hide”]Only well behaved and trained dogs are allowed in. If your dog starts a fight, we’ll have to ask you to leave! Please respect the fact that this is a family foodie event, so please make sure your dog doesn’t leave its mark. If you don’t think it can be well behaved, please leave the dog at home.

Dogs won’t be allowed in the kids area.[/accordion]
[accordion title=”Can I bring my bike?” load=”hide”]Yes, we love pedal power! You can bring your bicycle in or leave it locked up outside. We won’t hold any responsibility for your cycle, so it’s down to you to look after it and leave it somewhere sensible.

For obvious reasons, you wont be allowed to ride your cycle inside the site![/accordion]
[accordion title=”What street food vendors will be there?” load=”hide”]We’ll be mixing it up each week, so expect up to 15 different street food traders each weekend. You can keep up to date on any of our social media platforms by following our handle @summerfeastival, where we’ll announce our weekly traders.[/accordion]
[accordion title=”Is the site wheelchair friendly?” load=”hide”]Yes. It’s an open field so plenty of space. We will also have wheelchair access toilets.[/accordion]
[accordion title=”Do you take card payments?” load=”hide”]The bars will accept card payments. For the food traders, it varies. Most accept card payments now, but you will have to ask each vendor. Best bring plenty of cash for the tasty street food on offer.

*There is no cash point on site.[/accordion]
