Zip World’s three gravity-defying North Wales adventure sites now offer bilingual Key Stage 2 and 3 educational programmes for schools. Designed to support the physics, geography, Welsh and English curriculums, the programmes help pupils understand forces at work in caves, forests, quarries and real-life scenarios.

Zip World is Wales’ leading adventure tourism company. Attractions included in the Zip World Schools programme include Quarry Flyer – a tandem ziplining experience for mini adventurers, covering 200m of zip line against the backdrop of the Penrhyn Quarry lake; Bounce Below cavern trampoline park; the Deep Mine Tour – a historical mine walking tour accessed via an underground railway – and the Fforest Coaster, a high adrenaline toboggan style coaster.

Zip World’s education programmes make full use of these unique attractions, zipping teachers and pupils out of the classroom into stunning Welsh scenery. Pupils learn while doing, with the programmes rooted in direct experience of Zip World’s inspiring locations and breath-taking activities.

Available in both Welsh and English, the programmes linked to the Key Stage 2 and 3 Welsh National Curriculum for Science, Geography, Welsh and English. They were developed in collaboration with education experts Dominic Wong and Rebecca Morris from award-winning attractions agency Schools To You and are rooted in progressive learning. Progressive learning takes a hands-on, interactive approach to teaching in order to deepen pupils’ conceptual understanding while nurturing their collaboration, communication and problem-solving skills in a fun and memorable way.

The programmes include pre- and post-visit lessons, an activity-filled and easy-to-use booklet to support visits to the sites, and resources that teachers can utilise to create fun-filled lessons, including lesson plans, worksheets and PowerPoint slides. From designing and launching mini helicopters, to participating in a friendly tug-of-war, pupils will understand how forces affect movement work whilst being in real-life scenarios.

Zip World’s Commercial Business Manager, Mark Pennington said:

“Our sites are incredibly fun and exciting, so they lend themselves perfectly to an educational experience. We’ve been developing our bilingual educational programmes for quite some time now alongside industry experts, so we’re really proud to be able to now offer the packages to schools. Any schools in the UK are welcome to book; we want this to be fun and educational for the kids, but also easy and simple for the teachers to apply.”
