Welsh homebuilder, Persimmon Homes has announced exciting changes to Community Champions, the company’s generous charitable scheme which has supported hundreds of charities, sports clubs and local organisations.

Through the scheme, Persimmon Homes’ regional businesses in East and West Wales previously provided grants of £1,000 to a range of worthy cause throughout the year.

The company has today announced that the two regions will be providing grants of up to £6,000 to community groups and charities every three months, at least £24,000 per year.

Previous beneficiaries of Community Champions donations in Wales include organisations such as Welsh Hearts, Cefn Fforest Miners Institute, Pontarddulais CC, Maggie’s Swansea and the Cardiff City FC Foundation.

Liam Scott, Regional Chairman for Persimmon in Wales, said:

“We’re incredibly proud to have helped hundreds of charities, local community groups and sports clubs across Wales because we know what valuable work they do.

“These organisations are increasingly being asked to do even more or help more and more people. We want to ensure that work can continue and this is why we are increasing the amount of money available from £1,000 to £6,000.

“Persimmon is committed to leaving a positive lasting legacy in the communities in which we work, and as well as building good quality homes and creating well-paid high-skilled jobs, we know that Community Champions helps those organisations who are the lifeblood of our communities.

“We know our donations make a real difference and we’d strongly encourage any local charity in need of support to apply to Community Champions to see if we can help.”

Persimmon has confirmed that the new £6,000 donation is immediately available but that organisations will still be able to apply for smaller donations in accordance with their needs.
