Swansea hub launches ‘Reverse’ Santa’s Grotto for community

Founders & Co., Swansea’s much-loved Wind Street hub of independent food, drink, fashion and shopping outlets, is launching a ‘Reverse’ Santa’s Grotto this Christmas, encouraging guests to give back over the festive season.

Putting a spin on the Christmas tradition of visiting Santa and taking home a present, Founders & Co.’s Santa will instead be accepting gifts, which will then be shared with Swansea’s Kids Cancer Charity. Donations will be accepted throughout the month of December, and will be dropped off to the charity for distribution to children around South Wales in time for Christmas Day.

Based on Walter Road, Kids Cancer Charity has been supporting children with cancer, as well as their families, for the last 30 years, and provides play therapy, care breaks and individual support. The charity help hundreds of families across South Wales.

The charity and Founders & Co. is asking those who are kind enough to donate gifts to please mark them with gender and age suitability in order to ensure they are correctly distributed. The charity is particularly keen for toy donations but all gifts are welcome.

Founders & Co is already a well-known champion of local organisations in Swansea, and the Reverse Santa’s Grotto is the latest addition to its existing support of small businesses. Committed to nurturing local talent, Founders & Co. uses only local food and drink vendors, including Dusty’s Pizza and Tukka Tuk Indian street food, and has recently launched a competition, offering one lucky local business owner a support package that includes a one-off cash grant and mentoring.

Jamie McGowan, Corporate and New Concepts Manager at Founders & Co. owner Revolution Bars Group, commented: “While we all look forward to having a good time at Christmas, we know that it’s still a struggle for so many people so we really wanted to give something back to the community this festive season. Kids Cancer Charity does fantastic work for children and families living with cancer and offers them vital respite, so we are delighted to be able to help.

“We’d love for as many locals as possible to get involved and bring down their donations to our venue this month. At Founders & Co we’ve always been committed to championing local causes, and we’re delighted to be working with Kids Cancer Charity this Christmas.”
