Are you planning on going on a holiday trip? Winter is that time of the year when we get to do end-of-year celebrations and have gatherings with friends and family. While we are not in lockdown anymore, the COVID virus is still spreading. For this reason, if you plan to go on a trip, ensure you get a Healgen rapid test kit to confirm none of your family members is infected. The test is one of the most accurate COVID-19 tests that offer quick results. Here are tips to help you stay safe during your winter holidays.

    Have a Quarantine Bubble

By now, we all know the drill regarding COVID-19 safety risks. Reducing the number of people we come into contact with is an important safeguard against the spread of coronavirus. Consider having a pod of people to make contact with. A group bubble will help your mental health as you can get human interaction regularly while minding COVID-19 precautions.

Additionally, you can have some boundaries and ground rules for your bubble. Here are questions you could ask to ensure you are in sync with your quarantine bubble.

    • Whether inside or outside, will you be hanging out unmasked or masked?
    • How regularly will you get a COVID-19 test?
    • Distance is to be maintained when spending time together
    • Are you allowed to interact with people outside the bubble?
    • What do you think about outdoor activities such as exercise classes or dining?
    • Are new people allowed to join the group if they follow your guidelines?

    Vaccination

Have you had three COVID-19 vaccinations or two of the J&J vaccine? If you are yet to receive them, now is the time. One can get a COVID vaccine across the country for free. While vaccines don’t offer 100% protection against COVID, they can effectively protect our bodies from the virus against severe infections and death.

Follow the Basic Guidelines of COVID

While COVID-19 safety guidelines may feel tiresome at times, they are very important in preventing the spread of coronavirus. Some of these guidelines include:

    • Stay six feet apart from people who aren’t in your pod or bubble.
    • Always wear your masks indoors or outdoors.
    • Wash your hands properly with soap and running water
    • Regularly sanitize with alcohol-based sanitiser

Remember that you can’t substitute face masks with scarves, balaclava, or ski masks.

Stay Home If You Are Not Feeling Well

Are you feeling unwell? Have you been invited to a gathering? Not attending these social calls is best if you exhibit COVID-19 symptoms. Instead, stay home and seek medical help to stop spreading the COVID virus.

    Get Flu Shot

Winters are the flu season, and you need to be prepared. Many hospitals already have a lot of COVID-19 patients, which is why it’s important to remain healthy. Flu vaccines help in preventing flu-related doctor visits and a myriad of illnesses. So protect yourself by getting a flu shot from your local health caregiver.

    Do Consider any Travel Plans

There is always the risk of spreading or contracting COVID-19 while travelling. When planning for your trip, check if the virus is spreading in your area or any of the places you will visit. Postpone the trip if you or your loved ones are showing the symptoms of coronavirus or are sick. Ensure that the vulnerable members of your family who are at a higher risk of getting coronavirus have been fully vaccinated. Look out for any travel restrictions in your area and your targeted destination. Lastly, check the travel requirements of your airline if you will be flying.

    In Conclusion

We all want to spend time with our loved ones during the winter holidays. So take care of yourself and those around you by staying safe and following the COVID-19 guidelines.
