Wales Air Ambulance Charity is flying high after being chosen as the charity of the year by Swansea Bay Business Club for 2023.

The Charity, which provides vital 24/7 emergency air cover for those who face life-threatening illness or injuries across Wales, will benefit from all funds raised by the networking group as its President’s Chosen Charity this year.

Fundraising collections will take place at all Swansea Bay Business Club celebration events, which bring together hundreds of leading businesspeople from across south and west Wales.

The networking group will also support Wales Air Ambulance by encouraging its members to engage with the charity and its mission, and raise its profile through monthly events, social media posts and other promotional opportunities.

The Charity will also have the opportunity to speak to some of the region’s leading businesspeople during Swansea Bay Business Club’s launch event in February at Swansea.com Stadium.

Michael Morgan, President of Swansea Bay Business Club, said he was thrilled to be supporting the life-saving charity.

Michael said: “We are proud to be supporting this fantastic charity as our President’s Chosen Charity for 2023 and helping to raise funds for its life-saving work.

“The crucial role of Wales Air Ambulance Charity in saving the lives of thousands of people across Wales each year cannot be overstated.

“The charity has carried out over 43,000 missions to date and is on standby 24 hours a day to ensure it is there for the people of Wales when they need it most.

“It is entirely reliant on charitable donations to ensure it can continue providing its specialist services right across Wales annually.

“As such, we would urge our members to give generously to help us contribute towards the continued running of this invaluable charity.”

Wales Air Ambulance Charity said it was delighted to have been chosen as the leading networking group’s President’s Chosen Charity for 2023.

Katie Macro, Campaigns Manager for Wales Air Ambulance Charity, said: “We’d like to thank Swansea Bay Business Club for choosing us as their charity for this year.

“We look forward to supporting them on their fundraising journey, and we’re excited to be working with them and their members to raise vital funds for our Charity.

“Their generous support will enable Wales Air Ambulance to continue its life-saving work right across Wales, and provide our specialist services 24 hours a day.”

The Wales Air Ambulance needs to raise £8 million every year to keep its helicopters in the air and rapid response vehicles on the road. It offers advanced critical care across Wales which is delivered via a unique Third Sector and Public Sector partnership between the Wales Air Ambulance Charity and the Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS Cymru).

As a result, the service is consultant-led and is known as a ‘flying emergency department’, taking hospital-standard treatments to the patient at the scene of an incident. This includes the ability to administer anaesthesia, deliver blood transfusions and conduct minor operations, all at the scene of an incident.

Swansea Bay Business Club aims to support and grow the business community across south and west Wales. It runs a series of leading business networking events for businesses across all sectors with the aim of promoting growth and collaboration.

Its events feature high-profile guest speakers from across all industries, with speakers for 2023 set to include Principality CEO Julie-Ann Haines, and author and CEO Jeremy Dale.
