The company behind proposals to develop a world-class leisure destination at Kilvey Hill has announced a heavily discounted Swansea Resident’s Annual Pass in a bid to open up the hill for all to experience.
Global leisure and tourism experts, Skyline Enterprises, says local residents will be offered an annual pass for just £40 for adults, with seniors and children priced at just £20 (children under five will be free). A family of four (two adults and two children) will cost £100. The pass will entitle residents to a year of unlimited rides on the proposed gondola (cable car) and access to Skyline’s proposed facilities at the top of the hill. There will also be exclusive pass-holder discounts for Skyline activities, experiences and retail throughout the year, as well exclusive discounts for friends and family.
Skyline Enterprises Chief Executive Officer Geoff McDonald said the proposed attraction is very much for local people as well as providing a world class destination for visitors from the rest of the UK and beyond: “It’s very important to us that Skyline Swansea is a well-loved asset, not just as a tourist attraction but as an all-weather facility for the local community to use. So, we’re delighted to be able to announce a heavily discounted resident’s pass so local people can use Skyline Swansea as often as they like and really see it as their own. Our intention is to open up Kilvey Hill for all ages and abilities to enjoy with our wheelchair and pram friendly gondolas. We want everyone to experience the fantastic benefits of Kilvey Hill and Skyline Swansea and we believe the resident’s pass allows that by offering such fantastic value for money.”
Skyline is holding a series of public consultation events this week, with detailed plans available for discussion and feedback as the company says it wants to work closely with the local community to shape the destination for the benefit of all. The drop-in sessions will take place on:
- Thursday 9th March 3pm – 7pm at Landore Social Club, SA1 2LE
- Friday 10th March 10am – 2pm at Bonymaen Community Centre, SA1 7AW
The proposals for Skyline Swansea include:
- A cable car running from Landore Park & Ride to the top of Kilvey Hill. This does not pass over any homes
- Food and beverage outlets with viewing platforms across Swansea Bay
- A non-motorised gravity-fuelled downhill karting ride, known as the Luge, which is suitable for all ages
- A new technology similar to ziplines, which is suitable for all ages
- An exhilarating Sky Swing, giving an adrenaline rush and breathtaking views across the city and Swansea Bay – suitable for all ages
- Existing pathways and biking trails will be retained and new ones created
- Picnic areas will be introduced
- Tree planting and environmental improvements will be carried out on the hill with sustainability and biodiversity at the heart of the development
- Free and unhindered public access to the entire hill will be retained and improved with no obligation to use Skyline Swansea facilities

Final plans for Skyline Swansea are likely to be submitted for planning approval in the summer. If approved, preliminary works are anticipated to begin on site towards the end of this year with completion due in 2025.
