    Neath Port Talbot council seeks graduates for its next generation of officers

    Neath Port Talbot Council is seeking to recruit graduates looking for rewarding careers in local government services like public lighting, building services, waste and highways.

    As well as having degrees in relevant subjects, those successful in getting the new graduate posts must also be able to work to tight deadlines and be happy working as part of a team.

    And the new arrivals will be supported where necessary to pursue and achieve relevant professional qualifications as part of their career progression.

    Annual pay for the graduate roles – being created as part of succession planning – will be between £21,693 and £25,463 and successful applicants will be taken on initially on a three year fixed term contract.

    The closing date for applications for the four posts is 19th September, 2018.

    For the graduate post in Waste – candidates   should be qualified to degree level in Waste Management or related subject – and like candidates for all the graduate roles  have a flexible and committed approach to working.

    A graduate in the field of civil engineering is being sought to take up the Graduate Post in Highways and Drainage Services, while applicants for the graduate post in Building Services should be qualified to degree level in Project & Construction Management or other building related subject.

    The Building Services job is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure.

    The successful candidate for the graduate post in Lighting Services will be qualified to degree level in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or similar.

    Neath Port Talbot Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Sustainable Development, Councillor Annette Wingrave said:

    “We are looking to recruit the next generation of officers responsible for extremely responsible roles in areas such as highways, public lighting, waste management and building services.

    “These new recruits will learn from our highly experienced teams in these fields and will be encouraged to develop their skills and experience to deal with the challenges and opportunities ahead.”
