Neath Port Talbot (NPT) Youth Service have become the latest recipients of the Quality Mark for Youth Work (QMYW) in Wales, receiving their Silver award at a special presentation event last week.
In their assessment, NPT Youth Services demonstrated to assessors how their service recognised and promoted equality and diversity, planned its services to meet young people’s needs, and how it involved young people in decision-making processes.
Councillor Nia Jenkins, Neath Port Talbot Council’s Cabinet Member for Education, Skills and Training, said: “I am delighted that our Youth Service has been awarded the Silver Quality Mark for Youth Work in Wales.
“This prestigious recognition is a testament to their dedication in supporting young people in our community, and I would like to congratulate all the staff in the service for their efforts. Their commitment to providing high-quality youth work activities and services is second to none, and I am proud to see their hard work and achievements recognised in this way.”
NPT Youth Service works with young people aged 11-25 years old across the Neath Port Talbot area. It aims to give young people interesting and challenging experiences, as well as offer support and advice on a range of issues from young carers, to LGBT.
QMYW assessor, Catrin James said, “We were overwhelmed by the quality of evidence the team had prepared for our visit.
“The quality of provision across the wide range of youth clubs was consistent – which was clearly demonstrated by the high levels of attendance, and the range of activities offered at each club. We were also pleased to see the services’ cohesive team approach to supporting young people with their employment, housing, and wellbeing needs.
“Thank you to the whole team and congratulations on this well-deserved award.”
