Swansea residents and visitors can make the most of the city during next week’s school half-term holiday.
With the cost of living crisis continuing, Swansea Council is putting on a host of free and low-cost activities and events. Many will enable families to enjoy the city centre.
Half-term runs from October 28 to November 5.
Council cabinet member Robert Francis-Davies said: “With a holiday on the horizon, there’s no better time to discover what’s on offer in Swansea Bay.”
Free family fun day Spooks in the City is an annual big hit with families.
This city centre event is due to take place on October 28 from 11am-4pm. Its new venue for this year is St David’s Place, next to the former Iceland store.
Halloween events are also planned within the historic setting of Oystermouth Castle.
On October 28 the family-friendly Halloween trail will feature witches, wizards and the White Lady of Oystermouth. On October 31 the castle is set to host its MediEVIL night, packed with scary surprises.
Council-managed indoor attractions include the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, the Dylan Thomas Centre and Swansea Museum – all free entry.
Half-term is also good time to visit the council’s network of libraries – plus Swansea’s fantastic beaches and local parks.
Swansea’s biggest annual fireworks display returns to the St Helen’s sports ground on November 5. Tickets starting at just £2 are selling well.
