Following the petition to scrap the new 20mph default speed limit becoming the most signed in Senedd history, a theme park in England is inviting Welsh residents to fulfil their need for speed.

Chessington World of Adventures Resort in Surrey is saying “Croeso Cymru” – Welcome Wales – with a promise to satisfy cravings for awesome velocity with its NEW rollercoaster, Mandrill Mayhem, which travels (legally) at 42mph – more than twice as fast than travelling on the 20mph roads in Wales. The ride, which is the world’s ONLY rollercoaster based on the Jumanji film franchise, doesn’t just travel forwards, but also backwards AND upside down too.

Only a 2hrs 30mins drive from the Wales/England border (even when travelling at Welsh speeds), Chessington will welcome Welsh residents seeking speed this half term with a FREE ‘caught on camera’ picture of them riding Mandrill Mayhem – NO speed cameras here.

Chessington World of Adventures Resort has said: “With the new 20mph speed restrictions generating uproar, we hear the people of Wales and their unsatisfied need for speed. We’re delighted Mandrill Mayhem, which opened just over five months ago, can meet that need! We’re promising residents of Wales, who book to visit this half term and bring their driving licence as proof of Welshness, a free picture ‘speeding’ on the NEW rollercoaster*. We hope they’ll have a Wales of a time!”
