City Hospice’s annual charity art auction is back for its 12th year.

Cardiff’s local hospice is hosting a charity art auction, as part of its Light up a Life appeal, to support its work in providing specialist palliative care to patients with life limiting and terminal illnesses, and support to their families.

The auction will take place at Rogers Jones Auctioneers in Cardiff on Wednesday 13 December. Commencing at 6:30pm, guests will be welcomed with complimentary canapes and a drinks reception, before the auction begins at 7:30pm. Guests can put bids forward online or in person.

Returning to wield the hammer will be charity ambassador and BBC Bargain Hunt regular Ben Rogers Jones. The auction promises a prestigious array of art, consisting of 85 lots from some of Wales’ best artists including Kevin Sinnott, Harry Holland and the late Andrew Vicari.

Rogers Jones Auctioneers will not charge commission on the lots and have reduced the buyers’ premium to 15% which will generously be donated to City Hospice.

The auction is part of City Hospice’s Light up a Life appeal which aims to bring light and hope to the people of Cardiff by giving them an opportunity to remember their loved ones at Christmas. All funds raised from the auction will be match funded by The Hodge Foundation.

Nicky Piper, Corporate Partnerships Manager at City Hospice, said: “I’ve really enjoyed organising this art auction for the last 12 years. It’s a pleasure to deal with all of the artists who give their work free of charge to City Hospice for this event. We have something to suit all tastes and pockets, and aim to welcome as many people as possible.”

Auctioneer Ben Rogers Jones, said: “As an ambassador of City Hospice, I fully understand what a vital role they play in the local community, supporting families with life limiting or terminal illness. This auction is a chance to grab a beautiful Christmas present and I hope the public will dig deep to support this worthy charity.”
