An opticians in Colwyn Bay has raised more than £1,100 to send five-year-old Henry Castle on the trip of a lifetime following the end of his cancer treatment.

Henry has been bravely battling leukaemia since the age of one and has contracted life-threatening sepsis on multiple occasions.

After four years of treatment, Henry has finished his chemotherapy and is set to visit Disney World Resort in Orlando Florida with his family later this month, thanks to generous donations from charities and local businesses.

Specsavers Colwyn Bay is one of the many businesses that has helped raise funds for the Castle family. The store has donated £1 from every sight test carried out in July plus generous contributions from its customers.

Henry receives a cheque for £1,100 (l-r) Andy Deeley, Henry Castle, Charlotte Castle

Zoe Smith, retail director, comments: ‘At Specsavers Colwyn Bay, we are committed to giving back to the community and supporting causes close to our hearts.

‘Our team is so proud to help send Henry on this trip to Orlando and we hope that he and his family have an incredible time creating memories that I’m sure they will cherish forever.’

Zoe and her team presented Henry and his mother, Charlotte Castle, with the funds earlier this week. The family was very thankful to receive such a substantial donation.

While at the store, Henry had a go at checking optometrist partner Andy Deeley’s eyes, returning the favour after Andy carried out a sight test on him last month.
