    Get ready for a fun-filled, action packed October half-term with a variety of activities for children of all ages across Caerphilly County Borough. From adventure days and swimming lessons to sports camps, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Here’s a breakdown of what’s on offer:

    Caerphilly Adventures

    Autumn Junior Adventure Days: £28 per day

    The Autumn Junior Adventure Days at Cwmcarn Forest offer a fantastic outdoor experience for children aged 7 to 12. Participants will engage in exciting activities like bushcraft, where they learn survival skills and nature-based crafts, paddle sports to develop their confidence on the water, and guided adventure walks that explore the scenic surroundings of the forest and the wonders that nature has to offer.

    • Date: Friday 1st November 9:30am – 3:30pm

    Caerphilly Play

    Spooky Pop-up and Play Roadshow: Free

    The Spooky Pop-up and Play Roadshow is a fun, creative event for children aged 4 to 12, where they can enjoy making slime, pumpkin painting, and spooky-themed crafts. The play sessions are led by play workers and provide a chance for kids to engage in hands-on, imaginative activities while socialising with others in a safe, supervised environment.

    Locations and Dates:

    Tuesday, 29th October:

    • 10:00am – 11:30am: Llanfach Hall, Abercarn
    • 1:00pm – 2:00pm: Cwmcarn OAP Hall

    Wedesday, 30th October:

    • 10:00am – 11:30am: Markham Community Centre
    • 1:00pm – 2:30pm: Tirphil Community Centre

    Thursday, 31st October:

    • 10:00am – 11:30am: Pontlottyn Boys and Girls Club
    • 1:00pm – 2:30pm: Phillipstown Community Centre

    Friday, 1st November:

    • 10:00am – 11:30am: New Life Christian Church (NLCC), Abercarn
    • 1:00pm – 2:30pm: Plasmawr Community Centre, Blackwood

    October Half-Term Swimming Programme

    The Half-Term Swimming Programme at our leisure centres is packed with activities to keep the kids active and entertained. It features a variety of sessions, including inflatable fun sessions where children can splash around on water inflatables, public swims for families to enjoy together, and other engaging water-based activities that are sure to make a splash. It’s the perfect way to have fun in the water while improving swimming skills, making new friends and building confidence.

    Intensive Swimming Crash Courses: £22 per week

    This intensive swimming lesson course at Heolddu Leisure Centre in Bargoed focuses on enhancing swimming techniques and building water confidence quickly over a short period. Split into two levels, Splash 5 and 6 is for those looking to refine their skills, and Wave 1 and 2 is for beginners, the sessions are designed to provide intensive, targeted instruction that helps swimmers progress more quickly.

    • Dates: Monday, 28th October – Friday, 1st November
    • Times: 10:00am – 10:30am: Splash 5 and 6 / 10:30am – 11:00am: Wave 1 and 2

    Sport Caerphilly

    Netball Camps: £11.66 per day

    Our Netball Camps offer a full day of skills training, drills, and fun games for children aged 7 to 12. Led by experienced coaches, the camps aim to develop participants’ teamwork, coordination, and agility on the court while also providing a great way to stay active and enjoy the sport.

    Locations and Dates: St. Cenydd Leisure Centre: Wednesday 30th October 9:00am – 3:00pm / Newbridge Leisure Centre: Thursday 31st October, 9:00am – 3:00pm

    Hockey Camp: £11.66 per day

    The Hockey Camp at Sue Noake Leisure Centre is perfect for young athletes aged 7 to 12 who want to improve their skills in the sport. Participants will engage in drills and practice sessions that focus on developing their technique, teamwork, and overall game strategy in a supportive and energetic environment.

    • Date: Tuesday, 29th October 9:00am – 3:00pm

    Football Camp: £11.66 per day

    The Football Camp at Risca Leisure Centre provides a series of engaging sessions where children aged 7 to 12 can work on their football skills. Through a combination of drills, games, and match play, young players will develop their ball control, passing, and teamwork abilities while enjoying the thrill of the sport and making new friends along the way.

    • Dates: Tuesday, 29th October, Wednesday, 30th October, and Thursday, 31st October 9:00am – 3:00pm

    Rhymney and Abertysswg Community Sport Scheme: Free

    The Rhymney and Abertysswg Community Sport Scheme offers free sessions for children aged 7 to 12 in these communities. These sessions are designed to engage children in a variety of sports and activities in a fun, supportive environment, helping them stay active during the half-term break.

    Location and Dates:

    • Ael Y Bryn Community Centre: Monday 28th, Wednesday 30th, Thursday 31st October, and Friday 1st November, 9:00am – 12:00pm
    • Abertysswg Community Centre: Wednesday 30th, Thursday 31st October, and Friday 1st November, 1:00pm – 4:00pm
    • Pontlottyn Boys and Girls Club: Monday 28th October, 1:00pm – 4:00pm and Tuesday 29th October, 9:00am – 4:00pm
