Last week, Whisper Cymru was recognised at the 10th Cardiff Business Awards, winning Innovation Business of the Year, having previously won Creative & Digital Business of the Year.

The Cymru Broadcast Centre first opened its doors in August 2024 ahead of delivering Channel 4’s coverage of the Paris 2024 Paralympics. The new fully accessible, remote production facility based at Tramshed Tech, offers a versatile, state-of-the-art production facility featuring everything needed to deliver global remote productions on a large scale, which will bring new and increased opportunities to the region.

Alongside 18 other winners, Whisper Cymru took home the title, after demonstrating that they have achieved growth through innovation driven entrepreneurship. The Cardiff Business Awards were created to showcase Cardiff’s standout businesses and the impressive potential thriving within Wales’ capital city. Hosted by broadcaster Jamie Owen, the awards ceremony, which took place at the Mercure Holland House Hotel Cardiff, brought together incredible companies and individuals from every corner of Cardiff, each one demonstrating the highest standards of business achievement. The ceremony saw finalists from across all sectors in the City compete for 18 awards in a variety of categories, ranging from Financial & Professional Service Business of the Year to Young Business Person of the Year.

Carys Owens, Managing Director Whisper Cymru: “Inclusivity has always been a key focus for the business and even more so over the past two years as we prepared to produce the Paris Paralympic Games 2024 coverage for Channel 4. By using innovative ideas to create a remote production facility, we are hugely proud to now have one of the most accessible production facilities in Europe on our doorstep in Cardiff. What we are most proud of is the legacy this has left as it is open for upskilling and training the next generation, alongside being an asset for the wider broadcast eco system. This award is a testament for how partnerships and collaboration can create something special.”
