DVLA staff raise £29,000 for Alzheimer’s Society

Staff at the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) have raised a total of £29,000 for their 2024 Charity of Choice – Alzheimer’s Society.

This is the second time the charity has been selected since the initiative began in 2014 with DVLA staff raising vital funds for support and research into Alzheimer’s disease – one of the UK’s biggest health and social challenges.

Sponsored runs, football matches, choir performances and cake sales were just some of the ways staff have raised money over the year. And during a sold-out staff choir concert and a Christmas fayre in Swansea, the total amount was revealed to DVLA staff and Alzheimer’s Society representatives.

DVLA’s Interim Chief Executive, Lynette Rose said: “Every year, DVLA staff at both our Swansea and Birmingham sites vote for a new Charity of Choice and every year I am amazed by their generosity and kindness in supporting such worthy causes.”

Jess Bowring, Alzheimer’s Society Regional Fundraiser, said: “We are so grateful to staff at DVLA for all their fundraising support this year.

“Every single event and pound they raised will support Alzheimer’s Society’s vital services including the charity’s expert dementia advisers, who give advice and practical guidance for the next steps as people living with dementia navigate the hardest times of their lives.”

The money was presented to Alzheimer’s Society at DVLA’s Christmas fayre on Wednesday 11 December. At the event, DVLA also announced that staff had chosen MND Association as their Charity of Choice for 2025.
