A pair of bidders battled it out to buy a stunning cottage in a gorgeous West Wales setting at auction.

The cottage, Dinorwic, in the hamlet of Cnwch Coch in the stunning Vale of Ystwyth, near the coastal university town of Aberystwyth, was for sale with a guide price of £68,000.

The head-turning property, blending traditional and modern, soon created interest when it was posted for sale by Paul Fosh Auctions.

In the end two bidders went head-to-head to secure the one-of-a-kind bungalow before it sold for £83,000 after seven bids.

Sean Roper, of South Wales Based Paul Fosh Auctions, says the two-bedroom terraced cottage renovated using a range of traditional methods and materials, could be a dream come true for the new owner.

Sean said: “This is a truly charming cottage which really has the lot. It is traditional and also up to date modern. It looks awesome from inside and out and is also in a really wonderful location.

“It could very well be a dream property for someone. Quite a few people had a look at the particulars on this one ahead of the auction.

“Quirky Dinorwic has been and could very well again be an ideal family home for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city or town life or could alternatively be used as a holiday let or Airbnb.

“The vendors have improved the property with existing dormer extension being rebuilt in 2020 which benefits from vented roof with fibreglass covering and Siberian larch cladding

“Sustainable materials have been used as much as possible. There is, for example, the use of sheep’s wool for insulation, wood fibre board and some of the walls have been plastered with hemp lime plaster from Ty Mawr, in Brecon.

“On the ground floor of the cottage is the entrance, reception room, inner hall, bathroom and kitchen while there is a landing and the two bedrooms on the first floor.

“The cottage, which is equipped with a log burner, has a long rear garden with lovely views.

“There is decking at the back, a garden shed, a tree house and even a sandpit.

“The local area is well known for its stunning countryside and is popular with walks, cyclists and those with equestrian interests.

“The village lies approximately eight miles from the university town of Aberystwyth with its wealth of amenities, shops and stunning coastline.”

The next Paul Fosh Auctions online sale starts from 12 noon on Tuesday March 11 and ends from 5pm on Thursday March 13.
