The first phase of the internal fit out has now commenced at the Queen’s Market building in Rhyl.

After two successful open days last month, which saw over 90 potential vendors tour the site and discuss the potential of operating from the historic site, the internal works are now currently underway.

The first phase of the internal fit out work includes the installation of the furniture, lighting and CCTV. Other essential electrical work will also be carried out inside the building.

The Queen’s Market has been an important landmark in Rhyl since 1902 and has provided a variety of uses for the town throughout the years.

The new development includes 16 individual food and retail units, a double-sided bar, and a large events space which is capable of holding events, markets or extra seating.

Councillor Jason McLellan, Leader of Denbighshire County Council and Lead Member for Economic Growth and Tackling Deprivation said:

“It was great to see so many local businesses attend the recent open day events. It was a great opportunity to show local businesses what the facility can offer them, and how it can help their businesses thrive. There were some really promising conversations between potential vendors and the Queen’s Market team which are now progressing.

As well as the recent engagement with potential vendors, the development is now progressing internally, and the first fit out of the internal spaces has begun.

Sitting in the heart of Rhyl, the new Queen’s Market development is a stone’s throw from the beach, and is accessible straight from the high street, with the other entrance leading towards the prom, leading to better beach access straight from the high street.

This development is an important part of the overall Rhyl vision, along with the other regenerative developments in recent years.”
