A 43-year-old man has been imprisoned after admitting domestic violence and stalking offences.
Simon Peter Murphy, of Brynmor Avenue, Rhyl, was sentenced to 43 months at Mold Crown Court last week (Friday, 28 February).
At an earlier court appearance, Murphy had pleaded guilty to stalking his female victim over a period of several months.
Murphy, who was in breach of a non-molestation order at the time, admitted strangling the woman and to repeatedly calling from a withheld telephone number to make threats towards her.
His stalking behaviour included the placing of a tracking device on the victim’s vehicle to monitor her movements.
The offences occurred between 21 April and 28 June 2024, in which time he also sent a series of abusive and threatening messages from a false Facebook profile.
During this period, Murphy admitted to jumping on the bonnet of his victim’s car, causing damage to the vehicle.
In addition to his custodial sentence, the Judge also imposed a 20-year restraining order that will further protect the victims of his offending.
Detective Constable Simon Price said: “Stalking is a serious crime that can escalate quickly and cause a victim to live in fear of danger.
“Murphy’s behaviour was fixated, aggressive, and intimidating and it has had a devastating impact on his victim.
“I hope this sentencing allows the victim to move forward, knowing he is no longer a threat to her safety.
