    BrewDog launches new ‘hot beer’ to beat the cold

    There’s nothing better than cracking open a Cold Beer on a hot Summer’s day. But what about the days that aren’t hot? In Britain, that’s nearly all of them. With that in mind, BrewDog, Britain’s biggest independent brewer, has launched a new, limited-edition lager to help warm Brits up on those chilly days.

    At 3.4% ABV, Hot Beer is a session lager that once tasted of something, but has since been engineered to deliver genuine temperature. It will be available both canned and on-tap in bars, and uses microwave-orientated smart-tech to heat an expertly prepared brew to a blisteringly hot, flavour-mulching temperature.

    Based on comprehensive research with beer drinkers, BrewDog shrewdly determined that people like hot things. With that in mind it’s created a beer in which all of the delicate flavour profiles – developed over years of meticulous testing and development, and which otherwise characterise the brand – are absolutely obliterated during a two-minute blast at full power.

    This miracle has been facilitated by the addition of ‘mega-microwaves’ in BrewDog bars across the country – high power units big enough to fit huge jugs of beer. The beer is decanted straight from the keg to jug and popped in the microwave. From there it’s just a matter of enduring some excruciating small talk at the bar until you hear that ‘ping’ that means: it’s hot pint time, buddy.

    Lauren Carrol, Chief Operating Officer at BrewDog, commented:

    “Ever since we launched Cold Beer last summer it really felt like we needed something to add some balance. So we thought: what’s not cold? And then it fell into place from there.”

    “I mean, obviously it’s pretty nondescript to drink, but there’s no doubt that it’s hot. And actually we really think the joyful ‘ping’ could really catch on in bars. It’s just one of those sounds that lifts the spirits – especially if there’s a full pint of Hot Beer to follow. And a big thank you to our bar procurement teams for sorting the microwaves – frankly, I’m surprised Robert Dyas has anything left.”

    Sources within the company have also suggested, pending the success of Hot Beer, that it is  looking to develop an ‘air fryer beer’ which can deliver the Hot Beer experience to an even more pointless degree.

    Hot Beer is available from BrewDog’s website from Tuesday 1st April.
