The family of a 47-year-old woman who sadly died following a collision in Wrexham, have paid tribute to her.

Lydia La Polla, from Wrexham, died in hospital on Wednesday, 26 March, following the incident in Hightown shortly after 9.30pm on Monday, 24 March.

The collision happened between Belgrave Road and Percey Road, as a silver Mercedes car made off from police and collided with a Toyota car that Lydia was travelling in.

Her family say she had a “true heart of gold” and was “devoted to her family”.

They wrote: “We are truly devastated and heartbroken following the death of Lydia.

“She will be missed by family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues.

“Lydia had a true heart of gold and would always be there for others with her selfless acts of kindness.

“She was devoted to her family and friends.

“The night of Monday 24 March has scarred us for the rest of our lives. Life will never be the same without her.

“We ask for privacy at this time as we grieve our loss as a family.”

Five people have been arrested in connection with the incident and have since been released on bail as investigations continue.

Extensive enquiries are ongoing to locate one of two men who left the scene of the collision.

Detective Chief Superintendent Sian Beck said: “Our heartfelt condolences are with Lydia’s family, who continue to be supported by specially trained officers.

“We remain committed to ensuring those responsible are brought to justice and urge anybody with information who hasn’t already spoken to police, to contact us.

“You can speak to us by calling 101, or through visiting our website, using reference number 25000244712.

“You can also make a report anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
