Brains Brewery has raised £2454.64 for City Hospice after taking on a mammoth cycling challenge – riding 870 miles of the Wales Coastal Path.

The challenge, which took place between Monday 2nd June and Friday 6th June, saw Brains colleagues and friends cycle the equivalent of the iconic coastal route on indoor bikes, with dedicated participants covering miles day and night in rotating shifts to ensure continuous progress throughout the five-day event.

This heartfelt effort was organised in support of City Hospice, a Cardiff-based charity providing essential palliative care to people living with life-limiting illnesses.

The cause is particularly close to the hearts of the Brains team, and a much-loved colleague, who the hospice has recently directly supported.

Nick Payne, CEO of Brains Brewery, praised the dedication and spirit of the team:

He said: “It’s been truly inspiring to see our staff come together for such a meaningful cause. Everyone pushed themselves – physically and emotionally – to show support for Richard and for the vital work City Hospice does in our community. We’re incredibly proud to contribute in this way.”

City Hospice provides end-of-life care and support for patients with conditions such as Cancer, Dementia, Motor Neurone Disease (MND), Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and other life-limiting illnesses. Their mission to deliver compassionate, expert care across Cardiff is made possible through fundraising efforts like this one.”

Corporate Partnerships Manager at City Hospice Nicky Piper MBE expressed his thanks:

“We are so grateful to everyone at Brains Brewery and their friends for their phenomenal fundraising effort. Nearly £2500 will make a real difference in helping us continue to deliver our specialist care across Cardiff. Their dedication – cycling 870 miles indoors in five days – is amazing.”
