Seven potential operators have expressed an interest in running Caerphilly’s container-style market in the heart of the town centre.

Caerphilly county borough council began inviting expressions of interest to run the popular Ffos Caerffili site in May.

The current market operators have successfully managed Ffos Caerffili for its first year and the council is now seeking to retender for a longer-term arrangement to ensure the market can continue to go from strength to strength.

Cllr Jamie Pritchard, Deputy Leader of the Council said, “It’s encouraging to see that we have received seven strong expressions of interest to run the site going forward.”

“Ffos Caerffili has had a transformational impact on the town in its first 12 months. Its mix of independent retailers, as well as its quality food and drink offering, has helped put Caerphilly on the map,” he added.

The next stage of the retendering process will see the council inviting the seven interested parties to submit detailed business case proposals for consideration over the next few weeks.

There will be no change to Ffos Caerffili for traders, guests and shoppers during the retendering process and the council will announce the successful bidder in due course.
