All roads will be leading to the Welsh Mining Experience at Rhondda Heritage Park this summer as organisers gear up for the Classic Car Show 2018.

Back by popular demand, take a nostalgic trip back in time and reflect on those wonderful days of motoring along the open roads and marvel at the motoring machines of the time, all of which are now classic models.

The Classic Car Show 2018 takes place at the Welsh Mining Experience on Saturday, June 16. Admission is £2 per person, FREE for accompanying children under the age of five.

The Council is delighted to once again be staging this popular family event, in partnership with the Glamorgan Classic Car Club, as a pre-treat for Father’s Day, which is the following day.

Visitors can make it a memorable day out by also booking the Black Gold Experience Underground Tour, which includes the all-new Dram: The Cinematic Experience, giving them an even more immersive insight into the life of a coal miner.

New for 2018, be among the first visitors to jump on board as you take a virtual ride on the last dram of coal to the surface – and watch out for a few surprises along the way!

Cllr Ann Crimmings, Cabinet Member for Environment and Leisure, with responsibility for Heritage Service and Visitor Attractions, said:

“The Classic Car Show is a popular event in our calendar at the Welsh Mining Experience, attracting visitors from all over Wales.

“Enjoy a great day out exploring the history and heritage of both the motor and coal industries as you take a nostalgic look back at a different way of life in a different era.

“Even if you have been along to the Welsh Mining Experience to meet our miners on previous occasions, we will be delighted to welcome you back in 2018 as we have lots of fun and exciting things going on, as well as the opening of our new attraction, Dram: The Cinematic Experience, which forms part of the Black Gold Experience Underground Guided Tour.”

The Classic Car Show 2018 is being organised by the Council, in partnership with the Glamorgan Classic Car Club. The club was founded in 1999 and now has over 100 members who exhibit their vehicles on a regular basis. New members are always welcome.

A Welsh Craft Fayre, organised by Craft of Hearts, will also be open at the Welsh Mining Experience on Saturday, June 16.

All-year-round attractions include the original cobbled courtyard, Bertie and Trefor Engine Houses, the new digital/audio facility; Caffe Bracchi; Traditional Welsh Gift Shop and the new Exhibition Area.

Plan your visit to the Welsh Mining Experience and book your Black Gold Experience Underground Guided Tours by calling 01443 682036.

The Classic Car Show 2018 takes place at the Welsh Mining Experience on Saturday, June 16, from 10.30am until 4.30pm. Admission is £2 per person, FREE for accompanying children under the age of five. For further information call 01443 682036.
