    Following a house fire on Protheroe Street, Ferndale, during the early hours of Monday morning (July 28), four people have been charged.

    Three men aged 18, 19 and 23, and a 19-year-old woman, all from the Weston-super-Mare area, have been charged with the following.

    • Auryn Gustar, 19, charged with arson with intent to endanger life;
    • Connor Pitt, 23, charged with arson with intent to endanger life;
    • Storm Truman, 19, charged with arson with intent to endanger life;
    • Alfie Wheeler, 18, charged with arson with intent to endanger life and possession of a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place.

    South Wales Police were called at 1.25am on Monday July 28, with a report of a house fire on Protheroe Street, #Ferndale.

    As it is a terraced house several neighbouring homes were evacuated by local officers for safety reasons.

    Fortunately, despite the ferocity of the fire, there have been no reports of any serious injuries although a few residents were treated for smoke inhalation.

    Early indications reveal that the fire was started deliberately. Within 30 minutes of the fire being reported a car was proactively stopped by officers from our Roads Policing Unit and three men aged 18, 19 and 23 and a 19-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.

    All four will appear in court this week.
