Today, Green Man, Wales’ largest independent music festival, officially opens its gates for the 2025 edition, welcoming a sold-out audience of 25,000 attendees to the spectacular surroundings of the Black Mountains deep in the heart of Bannau Brycheiniog National Park.

Tickets for Green Man 2025 sold out in just 60 minutes, prior to announcing its line-up. As the first UK festival of the calendar year to completely sell out, Green Man’s enduring appeal lies not only in its breathtaking mountainous setting and independent spirit, but also in its consistently diverse and carefully curated line-up of world-class music, arts, science, and culture across ten unique areas.

Festival-goers who purchased a Settler’s Pass, which provides discounts on local heritage sites, galleries, castles, and more, arrived on Monday to begin their week-long Green Man 2025 experience amongst the stunning views of the Welsh Valleys. Those eager to embrace the local way of life before the music starts on Thursday pitched their tents on Monday morning in The Settlement, a dedicated area reserved for Settler’s Pass holders.

Green Man’s 2025 edition sparks an electric mix of headliners, from the wonky indie-pop of Wet Leg and infectious alt-pop hooks of CMAT to Underworld’s iconic electronic beats. Also performing across the festival weekend are cult alt-indie pioneers TV On The Radio, the hauntingly soulful Beth Gibbons, Irish hip-hop trio Kneecap, 2024 Mercy Prize winners English Teacher, celebrated funk collective Cymande, as well as many more across ten stages.

In keeping with tradition, Green Man will soar to a dramatic finale on Sunday night with spectacular co-headline performances from TV On The Radio and Beth Gibbons, followed by the ceremonial burning of the Green Man figure to close an unforgettable weekend.

Across the festival weekend, the legendary Mountain Stage will host standout performances from rising rock force Wunderhorse, as they ignite the crowd before Wet Leg closes the stage on Friday evening, alongside the  boundary-pushing sounds of Perfume Genius and alt-rock grit of MJ Lenderman and his band The Wind who will take to the stage on Saturday afternoon before two powerful performances from Irish country-pop icon CMAT and dank dance superstars Underworld. Rounding off the Mountain Stage lineup on Sunday are Leeds post-punk innovators Yard Act, ethereal multi-instrumentalist and lead singer of Portishead Beth Gibbons, and acclaimed New York rock giants TV On The Radio.

Over at Green Man’s treasured Babbling Tongues area, 2025’s edition of The Talking Shop will bring curious minds together to listen to conversations from Charlotte Church, award-winning singer, composer, activist and founder of The Dreaming Welsh wellness retreat, Welsh Music Prize winning electronic producer Kelly Lee Owens, and MOJO editor and acclaimed journalist Keith Cameron. This year’s Talking Shop is led by broadcaster extraordinaire Huw Stephens, who will guide insightful discussions that explore the intersection of music, culture, and sustainability across the festival weekend.

Alongside phenomenal music performances, Green Man will also showcase cutting-edge comedy through the festival, with the Last Laugh stage featuring some of the finest comedic talent from beyond the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park. This year’s lineup boasts stand-up sets from sharp-witted celebrated satirist Stewart Lee; multi-award winning Welsh comedian Kiri Pritchard-McLean; surrealist comedy rising star Olga Koch; enigmatic award-winning comedic virtuoso and actor Spencer Jones, and many more.
