Scolton Manor was buzzing with excitement on Play Day 25 as a record-breaking 2,266 children and adults came together to celebrate play, community, and creativity.

Organised by Pembrokeshire County Council, this year’s Play Day was the biggest yet, bringing families from across the county to enjoy a vibrant mix of activities, entertainment, and outdoor fun.

The event, held in the beautiful grounds of Scolton Manor on August 6th, marked a joyful celebration of the importance of play in children’s lives and the power of community connection.

From face painting and messy play to sensory corners and nature trails, every corner of the manor was alive with laughter and imagination.

Free fruit was available throughout the day, promoting healthy habits and keeping everyone refreshed. Local organisations and volunteers came together to offer free, inclusive activities that catered to all ages and abilities, making sure every child had the chance to explore, create, and connect.

Cllr Jon Harvey, Leader of Pembrokeshire County Council and Play Champion said: “We are absolutely thrilled with the turnout. Seeing over two thousand people come together to celebrate play is a testament to the strength of our community and the value we place on childhood experiences.

“Play Day is about more than just fun, it’s about building relationships, supporting wellbeing, and creating lasting memories.”

The event also highlighted the council’s commitment to promoting play as a vital part of children’s development, aligning with national Play Day themes that advocate for time, space, and permission to play.
