From now on, Neath Port Talbot residents can recycle cardboard and paper together in their white recycling bags, eliminating the need for a separate black box for paper.
Everything must fit inside the white recycling bag to be collected so residents are being respectfully reminded not to forget to seal the bags to stop anything blowing away.

Residents can now use their old black coloured paper boxes for glass recycling instead. Make sure only to include glass in these boxes – please don’t mix materials.
Residents also have the option of taking their old black boxes and lids to one of the council’s recycling centres to be recycled as hard plastics.

Residents who are not online can order more bags or book a slot at a recycling centre by calling 01639 686868.
Councillor Scott Jones, Neath Port Talbot Council’s Cabinet Member for Streetscene, said: “With the help of our residents we reached a recycling rate in Neath Port Talbot of 71.4% for the 2024/25 financial year, exceeding the Welsh Government’s target of 70%. The 71.4% rate is the county borough’s highest to date.
“This change simplifies the recycling process for residents, allowing these items to be mixed and presented together for collection.
“By continuing to work together, we can further improve recycling rates to protect the planet’s limited natural resources and promote a circular economy— helping to ensure Wales remains one of the world’s top recycling nations.”
Residents can now manage their recycling and other council services more easily by signing up to myNPT, the council’s new online resident account.
