The reception team at Swansea’s number one hotel have scooped a national hotel award after going “above and beyond” to offer an extremely high level of customer service to guests from around the world.
Morgans Hotel’s Reception Team, comprising receptionists Laura John, Rhys Morgan and Amy Short, and led by Head of Accommodation Aaron Collier and Duty Manager Hayley Bryant, were named “Team of The Year” at the national Boutique Hotel Awards in London on Monday, 6th October.
The Boutique Hotel Awards are recognised as one of the top awards in the UK hotel sector, with hundreds of entrants every year. Now in their fifth year, the awards celebrate the best boutique and independent hotels in the UK – and the hardworking and dedicated people that work for them.
The team at Morgans Hotel had been informed they were a finalist in the Team of The Year category of the awards back in August, after a lengthy application process over the Summer. Since then, the public have been voting for their winners for the various awards, with votes combined with the reports of a panel of esteemed industry experts to decide the winners – with the results announced in a glitzy awards ceremony at the Royal Lancaster London hotel.

Naming the Reception Team at Morgans Hotel as the winner for the Team of The Year award, hosts Eamonn Crowe and Zoe Monk of Boutique Hotelier magazine, said the Morgans team “epitomises what it means to go above and beyond for their guests,” adding that “no task is too big and no ask is too small” for them. Reflecting on Morgans Hotel’s support for international guests in particular, Ms Monk further commented: “Over the past 12 months, this hotel has particularly elevated its support for international guests, through finding innovative ways to champion local attractions.”
Morgans Hotel, part of The Morgans Collection, is proud to be an independent, Welsh hotel – but proud to be well-connected to the Swansea community. Through official partnerships, the Morgans team regularly recommend local restaurants and attractions to guests and visitors, often going out of their way to make bookings and reservations and to offer additional support to ensure all guests experience a wide range of what Swansea has to offer during their stay.
Hotels Manager at The Morgans Collection, Kate Bowen said: “I am extremely proud of the reception team and everyone in Team Morgans. Every day, the team go above and beyond to serve guests to a very high standard. Our reception team are regularly mentioned in reviews on TripAdvisor and other platforms and praised, often by name, for their service and support – so it’s wonderful that this customer service and support has been noticed and celebrated by Boutique Hotelier.”
Head of Accommodation at The Morgans Collection, Aaron Collier added: “We are very proud to be recognised with this award. Our team works incredibly hard every day – it’s great to see that this hard work has been recognised on a national platform. To be on the stage with some incredible well-known hotels is a big milestone for us. It’s a real highlight of my career so far!”
Head of Marketing at The Morgans Collection, Molly Dowrick added: “We are so, so proud that the reception team have been recognised in the Boutique Hotelier Awards. To be recognised by the Boutique Hotelier Awards as a finalist was an incredible feat in itself, but to be announced as the winners was a really magical moment.”
“We’re also so proud that our Head of Housekeeping, Klaudia Malenczyk was recognised as a finalist in the Unsung Hero of The Year award at the Boutique Hotelier Awards and that Aaron Collier was a finalist in the Hotel Rising Star award at the Independent Hotel Show Awards, also held in London this week,” Molly added. “We’d like to thank Boutique Hotelier for the recognition, the judges for their wonderful words and our guests, supporters and all those who voted for our wonderful team. Diolch.”
