A man from Swansea has been jailed after committing child sex offences.
Mohammed Raihan, aged 22, from Swansea city centre, committed several sexual offences against a teenage victim in July 2024.
Raihan later contacted the victim to threaten her to drop the proceedings and her complaint against him.
Raihan pleaded not guilty to all charges but on June 30 he was found guilty of:
- two counts of rape a girl aged 13 / 14 / 15
- one count of sexual assault on a female
- one count of intimidate a witness / juror
- one count of make indecent photograph / pseudo-photograph of a child (Cat A)
- one count of make indecent photograph / pseudo-photograph of a child (Cat B)
- one count of make indecent photograph / pseudo-photograph of a child (Cat C)
He was remanded into custody and on November 4, he was sentenced at Swansea Crown Court to 15 years in prison.
Detective Constable Mark Wells said:“It is critical at this time is to recognise the courage of the young victim in this investigation. My hope is that they are able to move forward from this in a positive way and gain some form of closure.
“This investigation was complex and protracted and I would like to thank the diverse team of investigators and detectives that have dedicated their time to diligently progress the investigation. It is also important to recognise the hard work of partner agencies in supporting this young victim along the way.
“During his trial Mohammed Raihan demonstrated no regret or remorse but recognised that the victim was vulnerable. The fact that he went on to exploit these vulnerabilities in the worst possible way, is hard to comprehend.
“If you experience a crime of this kind, we urge you to report it to the police as soon as possible. You will be supported, and officers will treat all reports with sensitivity and professionalism.”
