A 30-year-old man has been convicted of the manslaughter of Craig Richardson.

Thomas Iveson of Llyndir Lane in Burton, Rossett, denied murdering the 37-year-old at his home in the Plas Madoc area of Acrefair on February 23 this year.

On Friday, 7 November, a jury unanimously found Iveson guilty of manslaughter following a nine-day trial at Mold Crown Court.

In the early hours of February 23, Iveson went with Craig to his flat.

Later that morning, Craig was sadly found dead by friends having sustained multiple catastrophic and fatal injuries.

Iveson was arrested that day on suspicion of murder.

He argued he had acted in self-defence after Craig had attacked him.

Iveson will be sentenced at Mold Crown Court on Friday, 28 November.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Emma Faulkner said: “Our thoughts and condolences remain with Craig’s family today as they continue to grieve their loss.

“They have shown courage throughout the trial and while no result can compensate for the loss of life, I hope Iveson’s conviction can today start to bring some peace to Craig’s family as they come to terms with the tragedy of his death”.
