    A major road resurfacing scheme is set to be completed at one of Swansea’s main motorway junctions.

    Swansea Council’s highways maintenance teams will be working overnight for the next week to resurface the main roundabout at junction 44 (Birchgrove) of the M4 – Peniel Green Road.

    The improvements will also include resurfacing of a nearby smaller roundabout on the B4625 – which provides access onto the westbound section of the M4.

    Both sections of road are being upgraded as part of the Council’s ongoing resurfacing programme which aims to complete full resurfacing schemes at locations identified as being in poor condition and the result of heavy traffic use.

    Andrew Stevens, Cabinet Member for Environment and Infrastructure, said: “This is a very busy part of the network and is in need of resurfacing to keep motorists on the move.

    “We’ve scheduled the works to be completed overnight when traffic is much lighter so hopefully disruption will be kept to a minimum.

    More recently, the teams have completed resurfacing work on the A4118 Parkmill, Gower. West Cross Avenue, Woodfield Street – Morriston and Mill Street – Gowerton have also been resurfaced in recent months.

    Cllr Stevens, added: “We’ve committed record investment into our highway maintenance programme for 2025/26 and this has meant we have been able to complete a good number of full resurfacing schemes across the city, prioritising those that are in most need of repairs.”
