Finley, 28, from Cardiff has been named as the winner of an award from The King’s Trust after overcoming uncertainty and challenges to launch a successful clothing business that helps people express themselves and feel seen.
The King’s Trust and TK Maxx Awards recognise young people who have succeeded against the odds, improved their chances in life and had a positive impact on their local community. Finley scooped the Homesense Young Achiever Award which recognises a young person who has overcome barriers to succeed in work for more than 12 months.
“For the first time, I feel like I’m exactly where I’m meant to be. And I know I’m only just getting started.”
Finley always had creative ambition but never felt they fit into traditional spaces. After leaving school earlier than expected, they bounced between jobs that left them feeling disconnected and uncertain about their future.
This changed when Finley joined The King’s Trust Enterprise programme. With support, guidance, and space to shape their ideas, Finley finally began to see a clear path.
They went on to launch Finley’s House, a bold fashion brand that specialises in high-quality latex garments. Their work has attracted a loyal following for its unapologetic creativity and commitment to visibility.
With funding from The King’s Trust, Finley moved into a larger studio and began expanding their business. Since then, they’ve taken on major commissions for artists like FKA Twigs and Chappell Roan, partnered with illustrators like Mythsntits, and built an online audience of over 94,000.
Finley also gives back as a Young Ambassador for The King’s Trust and a mentor with Big Ideas Wales, running workshops and sharing their story with the next generation.
Now, with a thriving label, a growing reputation, and a clear sense of who they are, Finley is proud of the journey so far and excited for what’s ahead.
On winning the Homesense Young Achiever Award, Finley said: ‘I feel really honoured to win the Young Achiever Award. Joining The King’s Trust Enterprise programme has been an invaluable start to my business. I’d also like to thank Lucy Turtle and my King’s Trust mentor Ed Keen for being with me every step of the way.
Jordan Rose, TK Maxx and Homesense spokesperson said: “Finley’s achievement is a brilliant example of what can happen when young people are given the confidence, skills and support to reach their potential. At TK Maxx and Homesense, we’re incredibly proud to stand alongside The King’s Trust in helping young people build the futures they deserve”
Now Finley is in with a chance to become a National King’s Trust Award winner at a very special event in May 2026.
