Penylan Library is set to welcome residents back today following a major makeover that has transformed the much‑loved community space into a modern, vibrant library for all ages.

The comprehensive upgrade has been made possible thanks to grant funding from the Welsh Government and Section 106 contributions, that has delivered improvements throughout the library.

The refurbishment includes upgraded public PCs and an expanded non‑fiction offer on the upper floor, as well as a brand‑new community room equipped with the latest technology to support events, activities and community use.

Downstairs, visitors will find new furniture, improved lighting, new signage, fresh decoration and new carpeting, creating a brighter and more accessible space. The children’s library has also been completely refreshed, offering a welcoming and engaging environment for younger readers and families.

The works form part of the council’s ongoing investment in libraries and community facilities, ensuring they remain fit for purpose and continue to meet the needs of local residents.

The library will officially reopen on Wednesday, March 4, and residents are encouraged to come along and see the improvements for themselves.

Cabinet Member for Housing and Communities, Cllr Lee Bridgeman said: “Penylan Library has been completely refreshed, with improved facilities, new technology and a wonderful new children’s area. We’re really grateful to Welsh Government for the funding that has helped deliver this transformation.

“I’m delighted to see the library reopening and would encourage people to come along, explore the new spaces and make full use of everything it has to offer.”
