Motorists are being advised to avoid part of the A48 in Cardiff following a collision, with the road currently closed in one direction.

South Wales Police confirmed they are at the scene of the incident, which has led to the eastbound carriageway being closed between Gabalfa and Llanedeyrn.

Drivers are being urged to plan ahead and use alternative routes where possible, as disruption is expected in the surrounding area.

The extent of the collision and whether there are any injuries has not yet been confirmed.

A spokesperson said officers remain at the scene and thanked motorists for their patience while the incident is dealt with.

Traffic in and around Cardiff is likely to be affected while the closure remains in place, particularly during busy periods.
