Two play parks in Chepstow have officially reopened following major upgrade works aimed at creating more inclusive and engaging spaces for local children and families.

Monmouthshire County Council has confirmed that redevelopment works at the play parks on Western Avenue and Piggy’s Hill have now been completed, with both sites redesigned to cater for a wider range of ages.

The council said the new layouts were shaped through feedback gathered from parents and children via online surveys on Let’s Talk Monmouthshire, as well as direct engagement during the Food and Fun summer programme.

Officials said the response from the community was positive, with contributions received from a broad range of age groups.

As part of the improvements, a new net jumper has been installed at the Western Avenue play park thanks to additional funding from Chepstow Town Council.

Meanwhile, the Piggy’s Hill site has been enhanced with a new slide unity climber, also funded in part by Chepstow Town Council.

The council says the upgrades reflect a commitment to creating accessible and enjoyable spaces for children of all abilities.

The project was funded through Welsh Government All Wales Play Opportunities capital funding, alongside additional support from Chepstow Town Council.

Monmouthshire County Council Cabinet Member for Equalities and Engagement, Cllr Angela Sandles, said: “It is wonderful to see the play parks in Chepstow given a new lease of life.

“I cannot wait to hear how much the children enjoy them.

“Hopefully, the play parks will help the children of Chepstow and beyond to play and stay active for years to come.”
